My name is Larry Burnside and I have been paying the mortgage on my home here in Norfolk for the last 15 years. In those 15 years, I have never missed a payment, nor have I ever been late. My account number is XXX-XXXX-XXXXX.
I am writing because I recently lost my job at ABC Company in Omaha. I was not fired; rather, I was laid off with several hundred of my coworkers because of budget cuts. I have registered for unemployment while I search for a new position, but there is little to be found in today's job market so far. I have been out of a job since December 14, 2011, and I am concerned about my ability to keep up with payments. When I was employed I made $57,000 annually. On unemployment I bring in only $350 a week. My wife is employed and makes $32,000 annually. However, we also have two children as well as monthly car payments.
I am doing my best to get back on my feet, but I cannot find a way to stay current with our mortgage loan payments. I am writing to see if it is possible to lower my monthly rate so that I can continue to cover the other expenses in my life. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me. I do not want to lose my home.
Attached are my financial records that provide statements on my income, expenses and debt. I will call your office sometime in the next few weeks to discuss the situation with you personally. Thank you for your time and consideration.
