Director Cover Letter

    

I am greatly interested in the director opening at your literary journal. As a managing editor of the ABC Journal and a member of the board for the DEF Publication, I have ten years of experience working with writers, editors, and financial contributors.

My undergraduate degree was in English literature and I received my Master's in publishing. I have a passion for the written word but more practical experience in the industry. I understand that being a director involves keeping a steady hand in the two worlds of the journal. I have experience:

• Writing and receiving grants, including the GHI grant from the NEA
• Clear and consistent communication with board members concerning current or potential problems
• Managing editors, volunteers, and contributors
• Planning and executing fundraising events

My experience and passion for literary journals and my strong background in editing and publishing have led me to pursue a position with more creative control. I'm very excited about this new possibility.
