It has always been my belief that a library needs more than just good books and knowledgeable librarians. It needs a staff that can entice a generation that is used to getting anything it wants from the Internet. It needs enthusiastic employees that can arrange events, talks, workshops and activities that engage families and students, employees that remind them what it's like to be a community.
I have been a librarian and a member of the Hennepin County Public Library administrative staff for the last 12 years. During that time I have arranged workshops and lectures featuring authors such as Jack Brown, Alyssa Down and Paula Hancock. I organized and led the 2005 book sale that raised over $50,000 for the library and I volunteered for the children's "Let's Grow as Readers" fair in 2009.
I have only recently moved to Cleveland and it is my hope to find a library as excited and enthusiastic about uniting a community as I am. I have been to your library and seen the fun, creative decorations and interactive atmosphere. I believe that my skills and experience would be a great fit.
